Grief Ministry
at Hope Episcopal Church
The Little Church with the big Heart. That’s who Hope Church is, and we have a heart for those who grieve. Hope’s grief ministry is an outreach for the parishioners, and the community at large.
This ministry is a work in progress, formed mid 2022. A member of the church felt called to start this after the death of her husband. While Hope Church was extremely helpful, she felt we could do more.
Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:4 NKJV
The flagship of our ministry is a program called GriefShare. GriefShare is a 13 week support group designed to help rebuild your life after the death of a loved one. Our group is lead by caring people who have experienced grief, and are called to help others walk through these most difficult days ahead. In conjuction with GriefShare we also offer a session called Loss of Spouse and Surviving the Holidays. These two sessions are a one time session each, you can attend outside of the 13 week program.
Blue Christmas is a service offered in the weeks before Christmas. The holidays can be especially hard for those grieving the loss of a loved one. The service is quiet and walks through darkness into light.
The grief library is in the Parish House across the street from the church. There you will find books dealing with many different kinds of grief. There are books about Heaven, moving forward after a loss, and much more. Feel free to borrow one.
We know it hurts, and we want to help.
